FIRE WARDENS COURSE FOR CARE HOME WORKERS

Course overview:
The course has been designed to provide staff working in a Care home setting, with an understanding of how to reduce the risk of fire in the workplace and how to respond in the event of a fire.  The training will also ensure that the use of fire extinguishers for ‘first aid’ firefighting will be both safe and effective.

Who should attend:
Staff with designated responsibilities in the event of a fire

​

Objectives:
At the end of the course students will:

  • Be aware of the dangers of fire

  • Understand the nature of fire and how it spreads

  • Be aware of simple fire prevention measures

  • Understand what to do in the event of a fire alarm

  • Be able to distinguish between different types of fire extinguishers

  • Be able to tackle small fires safely and effectively

  • Fire Safety Legislation

  • Basic fire prevention

  • Building fire protection

  • Evacuation procedures

  • Chemistry of combustion

  • Practical ‘first-aid’ firefighting on live fire

Certificate:

All students receive a certificate of attendance
