Course overview:

This course is designed for staff with a responsibility for Fire Safety on construction sites and provides the skills and confidence that will allow them to carry out their duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures. The number of staff that your organisation requires depends on the size of your site. In addition you should train extra staff to cover for holidays and illness.

Site Managers and staff with designated responsibilities in the event of a fire.

Objectives:

At the end of the course students will:

  • Understand the nature of fire and how it spreads

  • Be aware of simple fire prevention measures

  • Understand what to do in the event of a fire alarm

  • Be able to distinguish between different types of fire extinguishers

  • Be able to tackle small fires safely and effectively

  • Be equipped to perform their fire safety duties

  • Fire Safety Risk Assessment

  • Chemistry of combustion

  • Practical ‘first-aid’ firefighting on live fire
